Tori is an attorney who has delivered results for Missourians—both in court and at the ballot box. She has worked to protect fundamental freedoms, defend access to healthcare, and ensure government works for the people it serves.She helped lead the effort to protect reproductive freedom in Missouri, ensuring voters—not politicians—have a voice. For her work, she was named <a href="https://www.aclu-mo.org/news/missouri-aclu-attorney-honored-lawyer-year-award/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Lawyer of the Year</a> by Missouri Lawyers Media.<h3>Now she’s running for the Missouri House to take that fight to Jefferson City—protecting reproductive freedom, strengthening our public schools, and making sure every Missourian has access to a great education and affordable healthcare.</h3><img src="https://run.imgix.net/c99d368f-3570-4bf8-b805-db8c96983608/179535bc-ff2a-4046-871b-011a098aa00f/179535bc-ff2a-4046-871b-011a098aa00f.jpg?ixlib=js-3.8.0&amp;bri=0&amp;con=0&amp;sat=0&amp;high=0&amp;shad=0&amp;usm=0&amp;rect=204%2C82%2C2082%2C2706&amp;w=1500" alt="" caption="" align="left" alignwidth="40" tiltdirection="left" variant="framed">Tori grew up with two younger brothers, the daughter of a public school teacher and a small business owner. She spent her childhood in 4-H, playing running back on her middle school football team, participating in theater and other activities, where she continued to learn the importance of teamwork, education, and community.She earned both her undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Missouri, where she met her husband, Nolan, an engineering student and Mizzou baseball player. Working multiple jobs while combining merit scholarships with the Pell Grant, she became the first lawyer in her family and the first in her dad’s family to graduate college.At Mizzou, Tori was elected by her peers to serve as president of the Student Bar Association and the graduate student body. She founded the campus’s largest student advocacy group to combat sexual assault and support survivors, and <a href="https://medium.com/@bidenfoundation/recognizing-bravery-and-inspiring-action-at-the-biden-courage-awards-1bd25cd6241d" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">in her senior year received the Courage Award from President Biden for her advocacy</a>.During law school, Tori worked with survivors and children affected by domestic and sexual violence through Mizzou Law’s clinic program. She also gained hands-on experience at the Missouri Attorney General’s Office, the St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office, and internationally with the Refugee Appeals Board in Cape Town, South Africa. She has been a mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters for nearly five years and enjoys riding her horse, Izzy, in Missouri’s state parks.
